You lost me at turds.... not sure if you are referring to the same type of water spots. I mean hard water spots, which form because of mineral deposits left on glasses after the water is allowed to evaporate. Las Vegas water is actually classified as "very hard" - it contains calcium and magnesium at a rate of more than 16 grains per gallon. These water spots aren't harmful and if you are drinking the tap water that contains the same minerals that produced the spots to begin with I can't imagine being upset by it.
